The Taiwan-Malaysia Overseas Science and Technology Innovation Center of National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University has long-term cooperation and exchanges with many universities in Malaysia. In order to deepen cooperation and exchanges between the two countries, an international seminar "2024 Malaysia Semiconductor Forum: Working Together towards a Better Tomorrow" was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on July 10, 2024 with the Universiti Malaya, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman.
The forum invited YBhg. Datuk Ts. Dr. Mohd Nor Azman Hassan, deputy secretary general, MOSTI, Malaysia; Dr. Ho Li, Head of S&T Division, TECO in Australia; and three Directors of TECO in Malaysia, Benjamin Hong, Charlin Chang, and James Y. C. Chang. Over 150 people participated in this event, including Dato' Pua Khein-Seng, the founder of Phison Electronics Corp., Dr. Robert Li, Sales VP (Taiwan and South Asia) and Chairman of Synopsys Taiwan, TSMC, MDT, On semiconductor, NXP, MIMOS and other manufacturers, as well as the President of UTAR; the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, UM; the Director of IMEN, UKM; professors, researchers and students from MUM, UPM, USM, UTM and other academic circles.
Together, we will conduct substantive discussions on the current status, future development, official policies, and academic cooperation of the semiconductor industries in Taiwan and Malaysia. We hope to start from industry needs, combine the government and academia to jointly cultivate semiconductor talents, and help the bilateral semiconductor industries flourish.
