From March 4 to 7, 2026, our STIC center invited a delegation of five scholars from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) and Widya Mandala Surabaya Catholic University (UKWMS) to Taiwan for academic exchange, led by TI-STIC Vice Director Prof. IDAA Warmadewanthi.
On March 5, the delegation visited Taiwan Dakim Environmental Protection Co., Ltd. and the Taoyuan Environmental Science and Technology Park (Taoyuan Sustainable Resource Center) to gain insights into Taiwan’s policies and practices in circular economy, waste management, and Waste-to-Energy (WtE) technologies. Dakim Environmental Protection is a representative environmental enterprise in Taiwan, with long-standing experience in industrial waste collection, recycling, and refuse-derived fuel (RDF) production. The company is currently transforming into a circular economy enterprise by developing Taiwan’s first Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) manufacturing plant using Finnish technology, converting industrial waste into high-value fuel.

Through site visits and guided tours, the Indonesian delegation gained a comprehensive understanding of Taiwan’s integrated approach to waste management systems, circular economy policies, and industrial applications. Taiwan’s well-established institutional framework and industry–academia collaboration offer valuable references for New Southbound Policy partner countries that are actively advancing environmental governance and circular economy development. This exchange aimed to foster dialogue and cooperation between Taiwan and Indonesia across technological, policy, and industrial dimensions.
