The recent visit to Thailand in November 2024 marked a significant milestone in advancing Taiwan-Thailand collaboration in research, talent cultivation, and industry-academia partnerships. Spanning key institutions such as Mae Fah Luang University in Chiang Rai, Mahidol University and Delta Thailand in Bangkok, as well as Chiang Mai University and the Northern Science Park (STeP) in Chiang Mai, the delegation achieved impactful outcomes through strategic engagements and cross-disciplinary cooperation.

Mae Fah Luang University

At Mae Fah Luang University (MFU), the delegation engaged in fruitful discussions with the university leadership to explore potential areas for collaboration. MFU's focus on innovation in sustainable agriculture, environmental sciences, and digital technologies aligns closely with TTSTC's focused field. The partnership is poised to further bridge the gap between academic research and practical industry applications and is expected to create valuable opportunities for joint research and talent exchange.

Mahidol University

At Mahidol University, the delegation met with the university executive team, including the President Prof. Piyamitr Sritara, and Assoc. Prof. Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti, Ph.D, the Vice President for International Relations and Corporate Communication, to present the Taiwan-Thailand Science and Technology Collaboration Center (TTSTC) mission and vision. Discussions emphasized future collaborations in digital healthcare, artificial intelligence, and semiconductor research. Industry representation from Delta Thailand enriched the dialogue, providing valuable insights into cross-border talent needs and highlighting actionable strategies for integrating industry demands into academic and research initiatives. This exchange underscored the potential for robust partnerships between academia, industry, and government to foster innovative breakthroughs.

Delta Thailand

Delta has long collaborated with NCKU and Mahidol University, making significant contributions to cultivating Taiwan-Thailand talent and fostering industry-academia partnerships. Highlights include the establishment of the “Delta-NCKU Joint Research Center,” attending "International Academia-Industry Collaboration in Smart & Sustainable Society" Webinar and signing an MOU with Mahidol University to promote Collaboration in Green R&D and Industrial Automation Training Development. During this visit, Delta Thailand emphasized the importance of innovation and explored key strategies for talent development and collaboration, reinforcing the foundation for long-term international technological and talent cultivation.

Chiang Mai University

The visit to Chiang Mai University showcased the depth of Taiwan-Thailand academic collaboration. The university, renowned for its strengths in engineering, medical sciences, and environmental research, has maintained long-term cooperation with National Cheng Kung University (NCKU). During discussions, both institutions explored expanding ties in digital health, sustainable agriculture, and biotechnology innovation, setting the stage for deeper academic and industrial collaboration.

Northern Science Park (STeP)

A pivotal highlight was the Northern Science Park (STeP) visit in Chiang Mai, a hub dedicated to fostering innovation in agriculture, digital technology, biomedical sciences, and sustainable energy. The delegation toured key facilities, including the Basecamp24 startup platform, the ABPlas Laboratory, and the NSP Inno Innovation Store. These visits illuminated the park's role in nurturing startups and facilitating industry-academia collaborations. The alignment of STeP's initiatives with TTSTC's mission reinforces opportunities for joint research and talent exchange programs.
